One morning when I was having some quiet time with the Lord, the scripture, 1 Cor 15:57, really came alive to me. I had been struggling with discouragement and overall weariness of my circumstances. I truly believe the Holy Spirit made me to see this truth. It was a reminder to me that our victory in Christ is more than just knowing we have a "blessed assurance" that we are going to heaven. It reminded me that God wants us to have the victory in our personal lives in Him and through Him. We have a mission and purpose here on earth and God gave us the victory in Christ to fulfill it.
It reminded me I already have everything I need to be encouraged. After all, I'm alive in Christ and no weapon forged against me can prevail. I am seated in heavenly places with Christ (Eph 2:6). God says we are the head and not the tail. It also reminded me that we have the victory because we walk with Him in His authority. Jesus said all power/authority was given to Him (Matt 28:18)!. So about this time I was ready to go conquer my day for God. I decided I would just verbalize this truth throughout the day as I was knocking on doors and believe I would get the victory in areas where I really needed it. > see part II
I believe it was either New Years day or the day after. I was going to the doors that day sharing James' (my son) healing testimony and good news like I always do just about every day and I really needed hope that people would show interest and want to donate to our cause. So I started saying boldly, "I have the Victory in my finances". I was also getting pummeled with negative thoughts coming against my health. I knew these thoughts were not my own and just an attack on my joy of the Lord that day.
So I came against them, saying, "I have the victory in my health". I kept on repeating that over and over again and it really encouraged me. I'm not kidding I could feel the power in God's truth and knew He gave me this verse to let me feel victory that day in an area I really needed and had been praying about. Those negative thoughts disappeared! I believe I was bringing those negative thoughts into captivity and making them obedient to Christ (see 2 Cor 10:3-5)
Here's a really neat ending to that day. At the end of the day, as I was walking back to my car in the distance, I saw a white trailer parked right behind my car. There was no writing on it at all except some kind of a sticker that I couldn't read until I got 7 feet away from it. I felt so drawn to know what the sticker said for some reason. Guess what the sticker said? VICTORY - I'm not kidding. That's all it said. That was the only word on the trailer! I praised God for His goodness and clever way to show up and let me know He was in on it and cares about me so much :)
Whatever trials you are facing right now... Challenging relationship? marriage? finances? health?
Bring this to the Lord.
Yes we all have seasons of suffering but that doesn't mean we are to stay there. Most importantly, what is the Holy Spirit telling you? He will lead you in where to ask for victory. You can be assured He wants you to have the victory in whatever His will is for you. An example of His will we can know for sure is a strong marriage. Maybe there is a specific area for you?
Ask God. Seek Him. (see Matt 6:33)
We are not alone in this. Remember our walk as Christians gives us a unique relationship with God and the Holy Spirit will lead us based on our own unique circumstances. I forget this from time to time but God is so good to remind me time to time by giving me specific wisdom at just the right time.
